Are You Prepared for an Earthquake?

California is considered to be at high risk for a large earthquake. How we prepare or fail to prepare now will determine our quality of life after our next large earthquake.

The library will participate in the Great California ShakeOut on Thursday, October 15, at 10:15 a.m. The Great California ShakeOut is an annual drill with millions of participants across the state. During the drill, everyone inside the library building will be asked to drop, cover, and hold on. We will then evacuate the building, and library service will be interrupted but will resume shortly thereafter.

You could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school, or even on vacation. Please take steps to prepare yourself and your family for an earthquake wherever you may be. For more information about earthquake preparedness, visit earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps/.

Are You Ready for an Earthquake?

At 10:16 a.m. on 10/16, the library will participate in the Great California ShakeOut. More than 20 million people across California will participate in this drill. Everyone inside the library at that time will be asked to “drop, cover, and hold on” and then evacuate the building. After the drill, we will resume library service. Thank you for your understanding as we become better prepared for major quakes.
